Pedrosa is by far the smallest rider in GP (maybe ever?) and he has continually proven people wrong who said he could never be competitive on a 1000cc bike, specifically a Honda. A lot of Honda's problems have been acceleration, meaning they have had to work the front too hard in braking to make up time. There is no way on earth that the RCV chassis is worse than the Desmo. Do you see a thumb brake on the Honda to steer the damn thing around the corner? That's a band aid by Ducati to try and get around the root cause, that they still have a bike that understeers at corner mid point.

Dani has had a bad yr, but he has been relatively competitive nearly all of his seasons and last year when he wasn't it was due to his minute stature not having enough weight to heat up the tyres, a problem Lorenzo won't directly have.

He hasn't suddenly forgotten how to ride, as Sunday showed. Not even Dovi has won a race in such dominant fashion on the Ducati. With Ducati putting all their eggs in the Dovi basket they won't win the championship. He rode well last yr but benefited from a perfect storm and being the underdog. He went into this season as a championship challenger and has crumbled after winning the first race. He couldn't pass his team mate in Jerez, binned it from the lead in Le Mans and had if not been for Marquez' brain farts in Argentina and Mugello he wouldn't even be within a sniff of the points lead. Petrucci is the paddock nice guy, and may pull off a win or two, but he isn't championship material.

I'm not saying Lorenzo will dominate Marquez, but I very much doutbt Marquez will wipe the floor with him for 2 seasons either.

Well said....

At somepoint....that could be too late for HRC....if it take as long 1 season and 5 races again....

I dont think MM will let JLo get anywhere near beating him again especially on the same bike....MM will be cordial and fun with him, but ruthless on the track against JLo from now to establish dominance going into next year and until their no longer teammates....

You're not 'hanging your hat' on the statement, yet you brought up the statement to make a point? Perhaps you're not familiar with this idiom, it means to believe in or depend on something. My point is that the iterations of the GP07 to GP18 requires a bit of substantive analysis rather than oversimplification. The GP17-18 is a much more user friendly machine for Non-Stoner type riders to win on, evidenced by not only Dovi, but, Iannone, Petrucci, Miller.

If you live in a glass house don't throw rocks.

The Honda is like Agnostic Front, and Lorenzo is more a Sade kind of guy.
I hope that isn't the case but respect you for nailing your colours to the mast.

I very much doubt it will take Lorenzo 18 months to be competitive on the Honda. Crutchlow bailed after a year on the Factory Duc to take a Satellite Honda ride and aside from Dovi, has won more races than any Ducati rider since switching. The only riders that have struggled consistently have been riders who aren't world champion material on 3rd tier satellite RCV's.

I thought some of the problems last year for Jorge (and Vinales) was the binning of the tyre that they preferred. Surely that would have had an impact on Jorge's acclimatisation with the bike if the tyre was suddenly swapped out?

I appreciate that Jorge has to take responsibility for his actions and failures and I could certainly see when his head dropped or he got rattled by others disrupting his rhythm but learning a new bike then having the tyre you'd been practising on being pulled would have caused a setback.
