Aero wings gone for 2019

As I expected when aero raised its head, the cost of it would eventually lead to its banishment . The MSMA has unanimously voted to shit can aero starting in 2019 and all that’s left to do is for Aldridge to make it official which he will.

We'll just see cleverer fairings then.

Donít think so
ďThe manufacturers came to us and said, itís now like a war, we want to control costs,Ē said MotoGP technical director Danny Aldridge. ďThey met in Qatar, Argentina and Texas and have now submitted their proposal for 2019. Itís not confirmed but they want to go back to more traditional designs. The most important phrase is that they want fairings with a single skin, so you canít have ducts, boxes or any attachments.

Maybe we'll see chanelled fairings ( like surfboards) or new paints that " interact" with airflow ...... someone will always try.

Not knowing anything about surfboards as they don't interest me but interactive paint does, however will it work on a motorcycle, I seriously doubt it as a bike is not a clean shape, on cars and boats and suchlike yes as the "dirty" bits are enclosed inside the vehicle, something that will never occur on a motorbike with various appendages swapping sides for bends, then of course there are things like handlebars, footpegs, suspension (front) disks and calipers and finally for most bikes the exhaust all getting in the way of a slippery paint job.

Yeah Im talking a paint that is not slippery but can convert windrush to downforce ..... if they aint working on it already ..... then maybe they will be.

So basically you're talking of a deformable paint , I bet that wouldn't be allowed even if it could be done.

Yeah I guess theyd outlaw that too possibly. But in reality the different manufacturers basic fairing must have different effect on ground force .... so its odd they would ban future development ...... unless they issue a standard fairing ...... .... oh no! Better shut up on that one or it will go the way of electronics development.

Doesn't make sense to me. Manufacturers will always find something new to spend big money on for an advantage. Besides - the development of the wings has been ongoing for some years now. How much more can they spend to refine them? Frankly I'm surprised you're so anti-wings as you have many times expressed the view that MotoGP is all about unrestrained prototype development.

Hopefully they won't start putting aero wings on the riders as an alternative. Lol. I mean look at the helmets already. They're so Flash Gordon now.
