Thank god, the wings were stupid and a horrible idea when they started showing up since they were never going to do anything but devolve into a spending war. I predicted they would go away. Ducati is probably fucked but I have no sympathy as they started the whole fairing/winglet war. Dovizioso is the only one who proved he could ride without them, so Lorenzo will be gone no doubt. To where is the only question.

Given how good the RCV looks so far, my guess is the next couple of titles were just handed to Marquez as Honda never went crazy with the fairings so the impact will be minimal and they can focus on refining the bike further. I bet a worldbeater RCV ala 2014 is coming within the next year or two now that this silliness is over.

Dovi might want to strongly consider Repsol Honda as Ducati is not going to be the bike to be on any longer.

May as well amalgamate WSBK with Motogp

these are supposed to be the best, fastest bikes in the world, if the aerodynamics result in faster lap times then I am all for it. and if they think this will cut down on costs, they are wrong, because the teams will find other aspects of theirs to spend money on developing.

I sure hope you said this when spec-ECUs came in. Talk about destroying prototypes and making things NASCAR like. Doesn't get much worse, for me, than standardized ECUs.

Danny Aldridge is a jerk for approving the current Ducati wings in the first place. But, since (he) FIM made the argument against the original wings as a safety issue, he got snared in his own trap. The cost to mimic what the wings do is more than the wings, I am pretty sure. But racing is still about selling bikes to the public, and I imagine adding all that plastic and paint to street bikes, especially 300cc super-sports, might be a bit much for the manufacturers to swallow.

Meanwhile, Honda doesn't give a ratz - arse. "We got Marcy-Marc and enough controlled horsepower getting to the tarmac, and f-u."

Wings are gone next year and so are custom IMUs.
Watch the Ducatis go ass backwards next year. No more talk about how they are “amazing at tyre preservation in the final laps”.

Agree. GP is for 'prototype" racing, Wsbk is the production based series. But let's face it, GP stopped being a prototype series a long time ago. CTRs anyone?

Whenever I hear something is done for "cost savings" or "safety", I assume they're bullshitting me. I'm opposed to banning aero package, as I thought it was an interesting visible solution. All these "cost savings" measures have only increased the amount spent. Now that all the investment has been done they're cutting it off when finally the rewards are being realized, this makes cost sense? Anyway, Ducati is fucked...again. When will they learn that they compete in a hostile series and go back to a full effort in Wsbk?

I don’t mind technical innovation in prototype racing as long as it trickles down to production vehicles. USD forks, radial brakes etc are good examples. Stupid boxes in front of the fairing? No production bikes are going to have that. Only Aprilia has done it so far and they have clearly stated that the boxlets on the RSV4 have no aerodynamic purpose and are only there to create a resemblance to the GP bike. Look at the front of an F1 car. Looks like a joke. No production car, not even a LaFerrari or P1 have anything even close to that.

I would much rather see them invest in engine and chassis technology. Bring back V5s, V3s.. let them go crazy. Or alternate suspension Tech, two wheel drive etc.

Not stupid winglets.

Just a thought, but with more riders and their teams turning against Rossi and as we have a limit on the number of teams, maybe if Ducati left the series it would leave a gap for a Rossi team. Now if that gap doesn't exist and it goes to a vote on allowing another team, lets imagine all the other teams said no.

It’s amazing how the bottom feeding turdsuckers can turn any discussion into an anti Rossi witch hunt.
