Aprillia might be an option in Motogp, though maybe not ideal

You all are high. Dovi replacing Pedrosa at Honda is a sideways move at best and more than likely a backwards move. Besides that , why risk fucking up the chemistry of a team that has won riders and constructors titles almost every year of it existence. Honda s just floating Dovi’s name to get Pedrosa cheap and Dovi is looking for a pay raise that Honda won’t be willing to pay. Dani rides for around 3 mil and unless Suzuki offers considerably more which I doubt, Honda can continue on with him for the same money while Dovi is looking for twice that. Why would you pay twice the amount to try and get a result that you already own. Sign Dani for two years and if Mir keeps progressing to the point to where he is a contender in Moto2, you pre sign him to a factory contract to replace Dani for 2021. If Mir really explodes on the scene you give him a third factory bike ala Crutchlow to lock him in
michaelm, Gaz, gekko1ro and 2 others like this.

I Ride: Your mom on most days.
Swap Dani and cal.
And in a year realize that cal is full of hot air and replace him with Mir.

Then Marquez camp protests and leaves for Ducati.

Two years and no wins later, markie mark’s dad with a girl’s name starts shopping around. Maybe a Yamaha seat will be available at that point.

Why would the Marquez camp protest either one of those riders.

Protest Cal? Not a chance.
Protest Mir? MM personally, no. Daddy? Most definitely.

Maybe - maybe not. If Dovi is looking at his prime years passing quickly by, and he's not getting the money or the bike he needs at Ducati, and Honda offers him a better payday, it's more than a lateral move. He knows how the Hondas handle and if he makes more money to put aside before retiring, why not. Not as if there is any superior alternative.

Knowing that - might push Ducati to improve their offer. What does he have to lose?

there could be more to the deal then just money... length of the deal, training expenses, merchandising opportunities, and other options.

I agree with Holypuck on this one. For all of the possible reasoning behind who is going where, then Dovi and Ducati is by far the one choice that makes the most sense.
Whilst I get there will be certain aspects of the negotiations that are a stumbling block, there needs to be some compromise and clearly Horhay's huge salary has been an influence on things.
I hope they sort it out. I love seeing a competitive Duc' on the grid again and seeing Dovi becoming a regular winner after the amount of time he's done in the big the class has been great too.

In terms of all the possible moves, I would really like to see Dani on the Suzuki with some old school 250 fast cornering. I just get the vibe it would work for him.

I agree with several of the things you wrote, but I reckon we must take into account that we will never know a good 70% of what happens in the teams when the doors are closed. I think something happened in Ducati and I think it's not strictly related to money. It's a team fully composed of Italians after all, we are good at being drama queens

From the recent Italian interviews of Ciabatti, Dall'Igna and Dovi (3 extremely chilled lads), it's very obvious that there is a certain tension in the team. There's been tensions also between Dovi and Jorge but that is natural.

Also Marquez in the latest press conference stated that he'd like to have Dovi as a team mate, why on earth would he say that if he didn't know that that is a possible scenario for 2019?
