Is anyone watching the presser. Uncle Carmelo just announced an extension with Michelin. The head of Michelin was just bragging on the quality of racing over the last 2 years and just basically said that they are manipulating the tires to enhance the show.

Do you remember what was actually said? I'll have to wait until they upload the video onto the app I guess.

Something along the lines of tire performance strategies and how they benefitted the show.

Yes, I watched, until I threw-up when I realized that the whole racing world has gone mad with trying to make things "fair". Thus we will have shit-ass tires for more years than I might be alive. And the cesspool will rise to the top in racing, because viewers think everything should be equal, whether you paid for it, or earned it, or not.

Geez, Gaz, those pictures tell a very sad story. I do hope he recovers from this year's set back. There is no way that his 3 'ships were all the bike.

Could be wrong but looks like the Hayshed and I know that if I fell off at the Hayshed I would be looking bloody poorly as well ................ brutal place to fall but brilliant balls out part of the track

Edit. Yep, Hayshed (just saw a video) and as usual there it involved a few body rolls to leave a bruise or three.

Enhance the show, code for, keeping Rossi artificially competitive.

But but but...they voted.

You may recall from statements that became public during the re-enstating of the #70 tire, the big crime of 2016 was that Marquez ran away with the championship; this prompted Carmelo to issue the task to willing Michelin of not letting this TV rating buster repeat itself.

I don’t think Viñalez realized what he was signing up for when he decided to be Dorna's teammate. This kid dominated preseason Philip Island yet has looked second rate over the past two days, though I hope his qualifying performance translates to some pace tomorrow. Notwithstanding, the loss in overall performance is thanks to the withdraw of the tires he won the first two races, and a Rossi development cycle that since has gone dramatically backwards. I hope Yamaha don't win shit past Rossi retiring, which is looking like it's not going to be soon. With this 5 year Michelin extention, it basically keeps Rossi in the game.

What's happened to Bradley Smith? Was it all in his head then? His form has improved since Kalio lit a fire under his ass. Maybe Bradley can phone in a therapeutic call to Alex Lowes who is looking awful.

Aleix Espargaro is showing great form on the Aprilia. Suzuki were mistaken to drop him, though to be fair, I think Suzuki have been detrimentally effected by Michelin's manipulations.

Marquez set out to make a statement this weekend, which he started to plan in parc ferme at Motegi. Marc will have to DNF for Dovi to have a shot. The Ducati is far more of a liability than Dovi's riding is given credit for, the bike is a pig to steer. Ducati's performance still varies wildly respective to the track contrasted with Marc taking his RCV to the podium irrespective of the track or conditions. It was always going to be an uphill battle for Dovi on Ducati, he has made the difference on an inferior package. But but, it's fast, right Rob? (Inside joke).

I think people are calling it way too early here because Dovi had a bad day.

If it's wet tomorrow, I agree. If it's dry, then it's looking like a real challenge. Dovi was on a red first sector on last qualifying lap but then dropped of in sector two. He really needed to be near row one for the start, especially if it dry. Of course tire choices will be pivotal as always. But considering Marc loves PI and sits on pole, Dovi has struggled at this track and sits in 11th. Ducati's last win was with CS. None of the other Ducatis in top 10, whilst 4 RCVs ahead of Dovi's lone Ducati. It's not exactly a stretch to say Dovi is in some trouble.

Oh, almost forgot...JACK FUCKING MILLER!

Sitting in 5th after returning from a near death experience. What else can be said about the guy? 3rd in FP1, straight out the gate! From his death bed to being on the second row of the race, can I get an AMEN? Children will be signing songs about Jack Miller's heroics for a thousand years!
