I was working a supermoto meet/trackday at Oran Park and the riders took a vote to end early and head to the pub to watch.

It was quite personal for us because when Casey first moved over to Europe he lived here in Southport for a while and some of us got to know him as we're the same age. I'd never say he was my best mate or anything like that because he wasn't but we used to go to Three Sisters and watch him race. He caused a bit of a stir as at the time Chaz Davies was supposed to be the golden boy and this skinny kid from Oz came along and showed everyone otherwise.

I actually still have a magazine somewhere with an interview with Neil Hodgson shortly after he'd won the BSB title and he was asked who the best prospect in Britain was and he answered "The best prospect in Britain is actually an Australian kid called Casey Stoner, I'd be surprised if he didn't go all the way so watch this space"

I'm sure you'll happy as long as his team mate doesn't take another a championship on the same bike and Marquez doesn't edge closer to #8.

What a great surprise it was to see Casey pretty much come out of nowhere (from a satellite Honda ride) to win not only his first Motogp WC but Ducati's as well.

No, just want to see an end to the Spanish hegemony.
