I don't completely grasp the reasons for the intensity of the continuous arguing on this site between certain members, but at least it gets people posting, and that is better than the "xopussyrtposrterj" threads. The wording is entertaining, sometimes, too.

___________ About the interview:
Color me an incredulous MotoGP fan with the following Forcada statement. I understand how to pivot a motorcycle on the front to induce a slide. So the front tire is important in that aspect, too. But I am skeptical about the claim Stoner didn't care about the rear. This is the rider who slid INTO corners and powered out virtually without using the front at all. This is the guy who threw the bike over into "Stoner corner" at 150 mph, without touching the brakes and drifted out under full power, again barely using the front tire at all.
I've never read this before. Is this personal observation or is this quoted or paraphrased from an interview somewhere?

I think I first heard it from Colin Edwards. However, Stoner has talked about it more than once. Here is one time: Redbull - Stoner @ P.I.
Quote:
“Last year in qualifying it was by far my best run through there I've ever had. I was basically only off the throttle for less than half a second, and then straight back on it again. We had nice good grip and lots of fresh tyre, and I entered in there at about 265km/h and at the slowest point of the corner I was at 258km/h, so we motored through that at a fair pace! I still remember the feeling of getting through there that quick.”
Good enough? He never touches the brakes and I under estimated his speed. It's 164mph on entry. In another interview, either he or someone else talks about him sliding before the corner even starts.

"He should be in his own race," quips Cal

Not being pedantic, but there's nothing to say he didn't use the brake.

Exactly. He just happens to mention letting off the gas for no fucking reason, and neglects to mention slamming on the brakes. Ya' that's the logical take away. But, you go with what you want to believe. You do anyway.

Nope, you got it wrong.

It is one state that has the extra head growing from their shoulders and given that the name Chip is little used in this country it is not like an extra chip on the shoulder either

Mind you, owning a Helmet and hat franchise in that state is quite a good income

No reason to get pissy. You are assuming he didn't use the brake because he didn't specifically mention it. In point of fact riders frequently use the rear brake while still on the gas in order to make the rear-end squat to better settle while entering the turn. You'd know that if you'd ever raced ridden in competition. Even good street riders do that.

Come on... nobody transitions into a 150 mph turn without slowing down some, not even Stoner.
To suggest what Pony is proposing escalates Stoner appreciation up a few notches to something
more like blind fundamentalism. Stoner never said "and I never used the brakes at all"
He also never said he can breathe underwater or fly like a bird - but a reasonable person
can assume that these things are not so, even if Stoner didn't spell it out for them.
