I Ride: the inevitable waves of change
i can't think of many riders that took as much time to sign stuff and chat a little with us annoying fans as that man.
and being a gp world champ there were a LOT of us swarming him in the paddock. i don't think he denied anyone to take a pic with him, and that didn't go unnoticed amongst the fans. no coincidence that so many wear the 69 in the grandstands.
thoughts and prayers to all that knew and cared for him.

race in peace champ

Man this cuts deep on me. I grew up in Ky and followed this guy until this day. He wasn't the most talented rider in Motogp but he did us proud. Coming from a state that hain't got a lot to be proud of. KY, First in the nation in death from obesity, cancer and disease. Near the bottom in education and first in ignorance. Haystack (said with endearment) set an example we could hold in regard. Sad thing is most of the state never knew who he was as everyone is consumed with hoops. He could walk down a city street in KY and never turn a head. Sans the championship Hayden ground out a modest but respectable career in workman fashion and as stated before soaked up the energy from the fans because I think he knew how lucky he was to be there, never taking anything for granted. I could see the pain in his face when he didn't perform well or didn't stack up. You knew he was hurt'n on the inside because he blamed himself not the team or anyone else.

I got a lump in my throat so big I ........

All the risks he was exposed to in racing over the years and this happens.

Last I read they were still trying to understand the accident.

I Ride: The original
One of the reasons I went to WSB Laguna in 2002 was to watch this gifted upcoming American rider in the support races on the RC51...and I got to see him wildcard.

2006 from the bridge...

NICKY HAYDEN: Race in Peace.-000g.jpg

He rode immaculately that year. Perhaps my favourite WC of them all - and certainly the most gracious. Thinking of him slew the Evo V5 sideways is giving me shivers as I type this.

God speed #69.
