They give no source for their information about the 'pain response test'.

And because they state that several eyewitnesses apparently seen the car speeding when all evidence in my eyes (I could elaborate but...) shows it wasn't (waiting for the police investigation to finish to confirm my theory). A publication that throws out accusation without proof is not one I would trust.
I appreciate your view on this, and the last thing I would want to do is give anyone false hope. Given a couple of the posts prior to mine I took care to ensure I provided a link to the source which at a glance appears to be a site that isn't known to provide false reports. If it is indeed a falsehood then I apologise without reserve and clearly I've grasped onto what appears to be the single piece of positive news I have managed to find. Also, your point regarding the lack of a credible source can't be faulted.

I pray that with time further information comes out that supports their report on this, provides further good news and perhaps I was a little hasty in posting this. I translated it and skimmed to find the section purporting to have information that is pretty much the only positive update I've read thus far and have no reason beyond your critque to suggest it isn't true.

Right now I'm grasping for anything positive I can find to give some hope as I'm sure you can understand.

SOUP (Superbike planet) or Road Racing World will have the news. Both those guys know Earl. I would just wait for them to print the verified facts. An hour isn't going to matter to any of us, one way or another.

I do feel like a friend is in trouble. I am sure that others of you feel the same.

Sixty-nine show us how to use a fast berm, once again.

Totally with you Pony...

This whole thing is not only a shock personally, I'm also surprised at how hard this is affecting the biking and sports community, but most of all its the response of people at work and friends who seemingly have only a passing interest in the sport. Speaks volumes of how highly regarded Nicky is. A true diamond.

And thanks Almoto, your input is hugely appreciated regarding Speedweek. That was some much needed perspective at a time when emotions are running high pal. I'll hold out and wait for some verifiable facts from now.

I Ride: Mini rice rocket.
As for pain response, it may or may not be significant. What they usually use is Glasgow Coma Scale. Severe brain injury usually means GCS 3-8.

Go Nicky! Keep fighting!

'Google Translate' can't be trusted either...

I found a article with an 'interview' of the driver of the Peugeot... and the translation said "he failed the alcohol test", but the original Italian word used was "...negativo", meaning the test was "negative".

Some of the comments on that article are from people who were written off and came back from that. It gives me hope.

This may be a little speaking out of turn, but it is an absolute measure of the man that is Nicky Hayden that this incident made much of our print media.

An even bigger measure is that some of that print media is updating his condition regularly on their websites.

All just shows how well regarded he is in a country where his chosen profession is not a major player in the sports market, yet here we have Nicky and his fight appearing so regularly.

The guy is not just liked, but obviously admired and respected universally

For me it makes it hard to have any interest in the racing, Nicky being obviously so much bigger an issue.

Brings home again why some of these guys don't even ride motor bikes on the road, I remember a story about 1 rider, perhaps John Hopkins, not even having a licence.
