He really never had a great opportunity to get past Lorenzo thanks to woeful acceleration though. This thing is so overplayed by Rossis moron fans. Every time he got close enough to try there would be an acceleration point and he would be back to square one. He also didn't fight back against Dani, Dani just ran really wide and never attempted to pass again.

Absolutely, anyone who has watched premier class bike racing since 2006 when Dani joined the field knew he was having one of his (in general too infrequent) weekends at Sepang 2015 and was always going to win that race. Lorenzo actually had the fastest lap of the race but knew he couldn't go with Dani for sustained pace. Lorenzo was also faster than Rossi all weekend except for by a few hundredths of a second in the last lap of qualifying, meaning Rossi started ahead of Lorenzo but couldn't stay in front of him, which was really all he needed to do as far as the championship was concerned, whatever Dani and MM did, but couldn't manage to do.

I also chuckle at how many Rossi fans, including Colin Edwards, cited some bullshit unofficial racing rule that "You don't race a championship contender" if you aren't in the hunt for the championship yourself, then cried like babies when Marquez supposedly didn't race a championship contender two weeks later....

Particularly given Rossi/Uccio's narrative actually contrived the reprimanding of MM for racing Rossi at Sepang.

It's a pretty lazy and overused internet tactic, labeling people trolls, that don't share your opinion, but you know a lot about overuse, don't you?

Next you will accuse me of spreading "fake news". Maybe you should let it go.

Totally agree on thse'unwritten rule' nonsense. The entire purpose of the championship points system is to identify which rider achieved the best results across the season average. The points system is fair and unbiased, If anybody actually gives one of the championship contender a pass then thats only putting their rivals at an unfair disadvantage.

Given the mentality of some of the one eyed Rossi fans, the cry blue murder if they believe one of Rossi's championship contender rivals was given this 'unwritten rule' preferential type treatment during a race. They believe that this 'unwritten rule' applies only to their hero ... but nobody else.

Double standard much?

Agreed, which is why it is utterly useless trying to have a reasonable discussion with them. A fellow motorbike enthusiast at work went ape over the Sepang incident, going so far as saying "What was Marquez doing trying to pass Rossi around the outside there anyway?" I simply responded by asking would he be saying the same if Marquez and Rossi had reversed roles?
