I watched the pre-race press conference and was mulling over Valentino's comments about Ducati supposedly needing to fix whatever is causing the tire issue because it is affecting everyone. Then I thought some more about Pol Espargaro whining last weekend about how the Ducati horsepower is supposedly to blame, and that others in the paddock apparently share his beliefs.

Rossi never mentions why Ducati has to fix the problem, or what specifically it is supposed to fix. He's just calling for a fix because, “Otherwise all the manufacturers have to race with a very hard tyre and that’s not good for the show, not good for the performance. They have to fix their problems. Not the official team, because they seem to work well in order to make sure that the tyres resist well and not make them overheat."

While he says the factory team has nothing to work fix, he's still calling for Ducati to fix the problem.

I've been thinking this may be him beginning to apply the levers of pressure to Dorna to step in because some of the satellite Ducati's are top 10 running bikes, and for every bike that gets closer to the say top 5 or 6, it potentially makes his life that much more difficult if he finds himself behind the factory machines. The last thing he wants to do is get into any protracted battle with satellite bikes.

Frankly I haven't seen a single shred of evidence to suggest this is Ducati's fault that either the GP15 or 14.2 are somehow not up to the Michelin tires. It sounds like also he wants that hard tire in play for himself. If anything Michelin should be fixing their tire if there is something to bigger riders who happen to ride a Ducati being the issue.

I agree with JPS, the whole Ducati need to fix the problem sounds to me like whining by teams/people that feel they are above fighting with a two year old Duc and they cant beat them straight up, so why not just detune them. Its a bunch of BS, especially coming from Pol, like he has done anything in MotoGP to be worth listening to.
I bet Hector Barbera would mop the floor with him on the same bike.

Could it be that with Lorenzo's defection rumours gathering pace, he now wants to mess with Ducati now to slow any development down as much as possible?
Also as mentioned he's playing a numbers game and doesn't want to risk 4th place and lower if his main rivals are on it, his current form seems to be about that...

More on Rossi's statement here. It's not Ducati's fault they've made a good engine, he's just speaking irresponsibly.

MotoGP News - MotoGP Americas: Rossi calls on Ducati to fix tyre problems

The ONLY bikes to have had failed rear tyres are a 2015 GP15 and a 2014 GP14.2. We never saw Bridgestone rears explode in 2014 or 15, so why is it suddenly Ducati's fault that Michelin can't make a rear tyre for it?
