We don't know what the bike can or cannot do so alleging that the bike doesn't perform is presumptive.

For all we know, the base road-version could be better around a circuit than other superbikes.

Yes - but is it realistic to think it's going to be (assuming it's priced at $200,000.00) $185,000.00 better than a literbike from Yamaha or Suzuki? The salient note is that all available info points to it not being good value for the money being asked. You could buy the Suzuki and get a Yosh factory kit with all the bells and whistles and still have a lot of money left over.

Keshav beat me to it. I actually agree with what you say Lex, but then my brothers 1988 Honda NS125F 2 stroke road bike is faster round some tracks here than Yamaha R1's. Does that make it worth 136,000?!

As Keshav said, my issue with the Honda is it is not good value for money, not at all.

I think you are ALL missing the point. Those who CAN afford it don't give a flying fuck about its specs or track performance, they only care about the exclusivity.

Oh I haven't missed that point Mick, and am entirely in agreement. But then they are assholes with more money than sense....

Eagerly awaiting some shampoo to be massively overpriced when it's launched in an exclusive limited edition colour...

That might be true, but demand is driven by all of the hardcore enthusiasts. They are the trend setters who generate the hype, which ultimately influences the investors.

Also, Honda is an engineering firm. They have too much pride to ask six-figures for a shoddy cookie-cutter. We'll probably find out that this bike has some of the most exotic alloys and state of the art construction techniques ever used in a production vehicle. The bikes will also be hand built. The engines will be blueprinted at the factory. The titanium sport exhaust will probably be a complicated work of art, like the exhausts used in MotoGP.

For all we know, Honda will lose money on this bike, just like they allegedly lost money on the RC30 and RC45. They were just halo products to keep their engineers from getting bored.
