Scott Redding WTF?

Will someone please explain to me what in the hell Scott Redding has done in his career that constitutes him getting any factory machine, much less a Repsol Honda?

I Ride: 675...
He isn't getting a Respol Honda....not so far as i have read anywhere...

He is getting the prototype Honda that Bautista will vacate at the end of the year though....so far as we know...

Perhaps HRC sees something in Scott R riding style and ability....

He did do much more than many expected on the Moto2 bike last year....so perhaps that was enough to prove he could do much proper prototype....

We can only speculate or complain about their choice but at end of the day it is their choice...
....look how Bradl has turned out even after winning a Moto2 title, or how Casey Stoner turned out after not having won any smaller class titles....

WTF are you talking about? He's the damn Moto2 runner up!! That's a fairly prestigious tag line no? Certainly the runner up in the support series deserve a full factory effort and all the press he can stand!

Exactly right. Look at what the Tele deal is worth to those who have purchased the rights and it becomes clear why every season, a reasonably but not overly talented British rider is elevated to "must have" status with very little in the trophy case.

Hahaha, this thread had me rolling. Thanx gentz. Uhm, agree with all your takes above after the OP. I for one rate Redding higher than Bradley, Crutchlow, and both Espargaros, none the less they are all on prototypes while Scotty is on the "proddy" (we really do need a nickname for this POS bike). I'd say Bradley and Cal are up there more because they're Brit (based on their "accomplishments") rather than Redding, as Crutchlow and Smith came up when there was desperate need for UK representation. Crutchlow won 2 races in Wsbk and Smith won (oh I don't know how many Moto2, I can't be bothered to look it up, but I'm sure its less than 2? I can't actually remember any.) Redding on the other hand led the championship until he got hurt near the end of the season, not to mention hes had some memorable performances (at least to me). I think its all about parity (as you guys know I've repeated this theme ad nauseam) but I think we are lulled into thinking Redding is shitty all of a sudden because hes amongst the CRTs. To which I would direct your attention to last years Moto2 season, and to example such as VR's Ducati stint compared to now, and vise versa for Crutchlow.

Redding and Espargaro P. have raced together in the same class for 5 full seasons (2008, 2009 in 125s and 2011,2012,2013 in Moto2) and Espargaro beat Redding every time.

Redding is a Crutchlow tribute band. Thick of limb and dim of wit but a winner of Cecil Rhodes' first place in the lottery of life.

I Ride: Ducati 999
Redding is a fast fearless rider, just as is Iannone and P.Espargaro. Each of those men in the lower class was capable of pushing Marquez to the limit.

I say that Marquez's moto2 title was gifted to him(race direction wimping out). P.Espargaro should be a two time moto2 champion.

So given all of that Redding should at least be on similar machinery to P.Espargaro - a factory satellite ride.

I agree that his passport garners attention but the guy can flat out ride. He is the closest thing to Simoncelli we've seen in a while.

Let him ride and prove himself.
