We'll see even if he gets into the top 5 this weekend i just cant see it

Toseland needs WSBK fifth for MotoGP return?

Massimo Meregalli, team manager of Yamaha's factory-backed World Superbike team, has revealed that James Toseland has a clause in his contract which 'guarantees' a MotoGP return.

"To be honest, we were expecting a bit more from James Toseland,

who has a clause in his contract guaranteeing him a return to MotoGP if he is in the top five after Brno," GPone.com reports Meregalli as saying.

Toseland heads into this weekend's Brno round as the top Yamaha rider, but is only seventh in the standings and yet to win a race.

However, he is only 13 points behind fifth-placed Noriyuki Haga and so has a fighting chance of reaching the MotoGP clause on Sunday.

Toseland raced in MotoGP for two seasons with Yamaha's satellite Tech 3 team, but moved back to World Superbikes - where he is a double world champion - to make way for Yamaha's 2009 World Superbike champion Ben Spies.

Should Toseland achieve enough points, it remains to be seen how Yamaha would execute the MotoGP clause. A factory ride is out of the question, leaving only a return to Tech 3, unless Yamaha makes the unlikely decision to field more than four M1s.

With Spies likely to be promoted to the factory team in place of Valentino Rossi, should he join Ducati, there could be at least one satellite M1 seat spare - while present Tech 3 rider Colin Edwards is still unsigned for 2011.

But it is Toseland's team-mate Cal Crutchlow who was asked to substitute for Edwards at Tech 3, had the American been called up to replace the injured Rossi for a few races, and Meregalli confirmed that the reigning World Supersport champion could indeed be a 2011 MotoGP rider (presumably with Tech 3).

"We are waiting to see what happens with Cal Crutchlow, who might be moving to MotoGP," he said.

Crutchlow has already been offered that seat. Crutchlow's Tech 3 offer and James' clause confirm that Rossi is headed to Ducati, imo.

Spies/Lorenzo at Fiat Yamaha sounds pretty good, the doctor might be biting of a little more than he can chew if he does go to Ducati.

If spies adapts to that bike well, He will have some serious contention for 2011, while Vale will be busy trying to adapt to the Duc.

if there was only a way we can fast forward to 2011 because so far all the recent races have been a snore fest.
