it won't be long before the 2 strokes are gone, and its unlikely that they will ever return. time to discuss the new formula

initially i was happy to hear moto3 would be 250 singles, i have a thing for single cylinder engines. but boy was i disappointed when criville rode his first demonstration laps,at least on tv the sound of the thing wasn't better than the 125s at all.

are any manufacturers confirmed for next year, except for honda?

also, what do you guys think about the new rules? as good as it sounds that engine cost can't exceed 12000$ per engine i think its a bit illogical to have production engines in moto2 and then try to make the smallest class produce new prototype engines, even though the rules don't allow for much ( rev limit 14k rpm, maximum pressure for fuel ). power output will be around 40 hp i guess?

also the minimum weight will be raised by 10kg, i wonder whether the torque advantages of the four stroke can compensate for the loss of topend power and the heavier bikes, especially since the 125 werent notorious for highsiding you

Well, inaugural Moto3 over and it was great! Vinales takes first ever Moto3 (and last two 125 races) for 3-in-a-row. Fenati is a phenome. The Malaysian kid, Khairuddin did very well with a sixth. Good racing.

I am so pleased for Roberto Locatelli - one of the nicest all round personalities in the sport and a great mentor and team manager to Romano Fenati at such an important stage of his career. Great to see this result today at a circuit that five years back nearly claimed Roberto's life.

Great race - tricky conditions. So much potential talent in this class. Unlucky today but I'm keeping my eye on Jack Miller's progress in particular this season.

Fenati seems the real deal - he's gonna be fun to watch. Locatelli will be a great mentor and hopefully the kid's as strong upstairs as he is on the track.

Cracked collarbone... he will be laid up a few weeks, but I agree, the kid is quick!

And +1 on Robbie Locatelli, hope his new career pans out.

Just watched the Moto3 race....Fenati at the moment appears to be the real deal. I know that many Italians will be watching his progression throughout the season. I think Vinales will still be the guy to beat.
