Damn, Robbie Allan and Davide Fretigne are out. But (sorry to be controversial) Peterhansel is on a charge!.

Sorry guys, but If you look at my picture in the lounge, you will see I ride a Tenere painted in Yamaha France blue, I cant hide being a Peterhansel fan. I thought for a couple of years that Fretigne might have been the guy to take the title back to Yamaha, but this year hasnt been good for him at all.

As for Robbie Allan, a 65 yearold Scotsman has to be worth supporting!

i agree liz, i can't believe the amount of people here who want to ban racing events like the dakar and iom tt,there starting to sound like my grandmar.
bloody hell ,if we got "so called "motorsport fans wanting these banned what hope have we got.
for god sake leave the wineing and do-gooding to the old biddys and polititions. if these events were that bad the riders would stand together and get it sorted like they did in motogp when kato R.I.P got killed.

It's a wonder that the crash in Barcelona 2006 didn't have furor about MotoGP being stopped, but then I guess the 800 cc bikes are brought in for this reason, to keep it safe. In Dakar, obviously if you make a mistake you may pay for it with your life, but it is a testament to those who finish that this is the hardest race in the world. The life loss could so easily have been replicated in Barcelona, thankfully not, but these racing guys are fully aware of the dangers and have probably lost a few friends and peers themselves to be conscious enough of the dangers. No-one wants to crash on purpose, hence my total disbelief that anyone could think Dani Pedrosa would have knocked Hayden off maliciously........but before that starts that argument off again I'll shut up. lol.

Anyway, the sign is at the entrance to any race circuit. it's dangerous, but sometimes so is walking outside your front door, what with all the skunk pussies and gizm monkeys...................

Soap box dismounted. I apologise.

Liz

(Regarding Elmer Symons)
The Off Road Racing community recently lost one of it closest and dearest friends, Elmer Symons. Elmer died competing in Stage Four of the 2007 Dakar Rally. Elmer was born in South Africa and was a National Off Road Champion in his native land, having won the prestigious Roof of Africa Rally. His friendly demeanor, commitment and passion for the sport infected all who knew him. He was a fixture at D-37, Best in the Desert, and AMA National Hare & Hound events. For the past two years he had been living in Georgia, riding GNCC events and preparing for his assault on Dakar. To compete in Dakar was Elmer's dream, a dream he achieved through the help of many friends, including his brother, Phillip, his sponsor, James Embro, and Malcolm Smith, who took him under his wing when he first arrived in America.

In order to finance his trip to Dakar, Elmer and his brother Phillip, incurred several large loans. Elmer intended to re-pay these loans at the conclusion of the Rally. To celebrate Elmer’s life and the impact he had on the U.S. off-road community, and more importantly, to help off-set the costs and raise money for the Symons family, Malcolm Smith Motorsports is hosting a party in Elmer's memory on Jan 23rd, starting at 7pm. All friends are welcome. The party will be held at Malcolm's new shop at: 7599 Indiana Ave, Riverside, CA 92504.

Donations are welcome - please send them to Malcolm Smith Motorsports in care of Elmer Symons. Donations are also being accepted at the party on Jan 23rd.

Elmer Symons was a friend to everyone who met him. Now is the time for the off-road community to return that friendship. Please make your plans to attend the party at Malcolm Smith Motorsports on Jan. 23rd.

Jumkie, I think Pedrosa that and all the other motogp riders should be praised for the amount of times they MISSED the cruisin caretaker on corners.
