If he was it didn't last long as he's down to compete this year with Smiths Racing.

This is what Ellison said when joining Smiths

Quote:
James Ellison: “First of all I just want to thank Alan, Rebecca and Darren for giving me this opportunity. I had an incredibly difficult 2018 season for various reasons, we had great pace but were lacking one key component that stopped me from getting the results which both myself and the TAG team were capable of. They are such a friendly, family-run team that made me feel so welcome, so I want to say a huge thank you to them and I wish them the best of luck in the future. I figured it would be impossible to call 2018 my last season in BSB after having so many successful seasons fighting for the championship and it is just not in my nature to walk away knowing I can still fight for the BSB title given the right tools. The Smiths Racing BMW team have had another strong season with Hicky proving they are true title contenders and I’m delighted to be teaming up with Hicky again. We are really good friends off track but of course tough rivals on it and I believe we will push each other all year and work closely together to speed up the development of the all-new BMW S1000RR.The support from the fans has been incredible, even when I was struggling, which means so much to me and I can’t wait to start testing in March.”

Thanks, haven't even found anything about it, I think I need a decent search engine and not the crap freebies.

I'll tell you what Hickman and Dunlop don't want to let Dean Harrison get too much of a jump on them testing wise if they've got new machines to sort out, Dean got 170 laps in this week and he's testing at Portimao next week too as well as doing the opening two rounds of BSB and NW200 he's going to have a lot of miles on the clock by the time he gets to the TT.

O'Halloran looks like he could be a contender on that R1.

Still no sign of the BMW's what a clusterfuck that is, first race is less than 2 weeks away and they haven't done one test on the new bike.

I've never bought into the idea that a MotoGP rider is superior because he's a MotoGP rider though, for the most part long time MotoGP rider and podium finisher John Hopkins and SBK champion Sylvain Guintoli have been mid pack riders in BSB. Nori Haga did nothing in BSB either.
Hopkins' body was destroyed by the time he left MotoGP. His right wrist didn't work properly (which is why Ulrich unloaded on him when Hopkins rode for him in AMA).

Mixed weekend for Scott at Silverstone, he finished 3rd in race one albeit fortuitously and crashed out of race two, his team mate Josh Brookes Ducati shat itself in both races.
